First dance rehearsal

We are deciding on how to start the dance

We are discussing ideas on how to start the dance routine

I'm giving ideas of dance routines

I am checking if they are dancing to the song at the same time and making sure it fits in well together

This is how the dance starts off

Presentation and feedback of music video ideas

A2 Music video Pitch Group 3 from Sidney Stringer on Vimeo.

We gathered all our music video ideas which we pitched as a group to our media class so we could get feedback from other students about what they liked about our ideas and what we can do to improve our music video. We started the presentation by introducing the song we have chosen which is "Be There" by Kat Deluna and this is what we are going to create our music video on. We voiced our narrative ideas of what the storyline of our music video is going to be. A few days earlier my group and the girls which are going to be in the music video went to the locations and took pictures to test if it would look good. We talked through the locations which we chose for the individual girls. One person did say to us that it will be time consuming to record because we have several different locations, however this is not a problem because the locations are only a few minutes away from each other and the recordings in each location are not that long as we are only using these recordings for the beginning of the music video. We also said that the other main location which is going to take up alot of the music video is the glamorous scene which we want to shoot in a studio.

From research on costume we told other students that we have four ideas four costume which are: glamorous clothing, smart dress, casual and hip hop. We went into more detail about the type of make-up we want to use. We told them that each girl is going to repesent their individual colours throughout the music video, one peron said that this is a good way of showing the audience their individual personalities. We showed them the mood board we designed which displayed all the different elements that are going to be incorporated within in the music video. Also we briefly went through our storyboard saying how we are constructing it.

Whilst we were pitching our ideas, other students added their comments about what they thing about each individual idea which was good because it meant that we could take everything into consideration.

Creating a Vimeo Account

I have created a Vimeo account which we will need to upload our music video.

Mood Board

Today we have started creating our mood board, it will consist of things related to our music video which includes mise-en-scene like casual and glamorous clothing, the colours represented in the music video, props, locations, make-up, accessories relationships and the narrative. We cut out images out of magazines which related to anything to do with the theme of our music video. This was a simple task but was time consuming and messy.

We have finally completed the mood board which is shown below:

As you can see our mood board consists of alot of glamour, colours, features and style.

Storyboard

The storyboard we have started putting together are basic picture of each step of the music video which we drew on post-sticks and arranged in the correct order. We used pot-sticks as they were easy to re-arrange and test different ideas. To help us arrange the storyboard we used the lyrics to time each step and make sure it matched the music. This task involved simple drawings but it was very time consuming to put together. As we did not have much class time to complete the storyboard we decided to meet up in the library on Saturday to complete it.

Here is our completed storyboard.

We made some final adjustments to our storyboard as you can see below.

Here is us in the process of creating the storyboard

Analysis of the lyrics

I have analysed the lyrics in detail identifying what part of the lyrics each individual girl will sing, where the locations will be for each part and how the girls will be dressed.

Song lyrics for "Be There" by Kat Deluna

These are the lyrics for the song of our music video, we have analysed these lyrics to identify what parts the individual girls will be singing and what parts of the song they will be singing together. The text in blue is is what the girls will be singign together and the text in green are the individual parts the girls will be singing. The lyrics also helped us create the storyboard because it helped us time and create each scene.

Baby, I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,

If you're the thief in the night,
Then let me be a masterpiece,
Make you the king of my heart,
If you forever stay true to me, yeah,

I'll never stop,
Keep it goin,
I'm the one,
And you know it,
Hold you down yeah,
Took my heart,
Now you got it,
Couldn't leave you,
If I wanted,
Hold me tighter,

Baby, I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
Just when you think you're by yourself,
Turn around,
Cos I'm right there,
I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,

If I leave you breathless,
Then I'll be the air you need,
And if you lose your faith in love,
I'll make you believe,
Yeah,

I'll never stop,
Keep it goin,
I'm the one,
And you know it,
Hold you down yeah,
Took my heart,
Now you got it,
Couldn't leave you,
If I wanted,
Hold me tighter,

Baby, I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
Just when you think you're by yourself,
Turn around,
Cos I'm right there,
I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,

I'ma be there (x6)

Baby, I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,
Just when you think you're by yourself,
Turn around,
Cos I'm right there,
I'ma be there,
You know I'ma be there,
Baby, I'ma be there,

When you think you're by yourself,
When you think you're by yourself,
When you think you're by yourself,
When you think you're by yourself,,,

Collecting ideas for music video

This is the saturdays music video called 'Up' which consists of five female singers. The feature of this video that inspired our ideas is that fact that all five girls are representing individual colours. This gave us the idea that the four girls in our music video should also represent their own colours because this brings out the individual personalities of the girls through colour. Also because the girl will be known as a band the use of individual colours will allow the girls to be identified individually. For Example JLS is a big Uk band but they reflect their individuality through colour.

As you can see in the images aboves all four of the men represent their own individual colours from which fans can recognise each one.

Eriche: Red
Aston: Blue

Glamorous Make-Up ideas

For the make-up of the four girls we have decided that we want to use bold, edgey make-up on the eyes as they are the most attractive feature that emphasise the whole face. We want to use vibrant colours on the eye-lid highlighted by the eyeliner, topliner and mascara. These are examples showing a brief idea of the eye make-up we are planning on doing.

Costume Research

In our music video we will include sequences where the girls will be wearing glamorous dresses which will be similar to the ones Kat Deluna is wearing in the pictures above. Although she is dress in glamorous clothes she is still pulling off a sophisticated look which we would also like to incorporate into our video.

In our music video we will also have the girls wearing casual clothes, there are examples aboveof what dress sense we will be using in parts of the video. We want the girls to wear casual clothes as it shows elegance and to show their ordinary day to day lives which contrasts with the scenes when they wear glamorous clothes.
